European Village of Cultural Heritage
The capital of the Checked-Houses-Land
Summer in SwolowoSwolowo – a village located about 15 kilometres to the north-west of Slupsk, near a Slupsk-Darlowo road, with remaining elements of medieval development forms, e.g. settlement development on an oval plan. One of the most interesting villages in Pomerania, announced European Village of Cultural Heritage. Preserved half-timbered objects from the beginnings of the 19th century typical for rich Pomeranian peasant farms. An excellent example of Pomeranian oval villages. A main axis of an oval plan was set up parallel to a stream running through the village. The square of the village together with a church and a pond is flat. The surroundings are gentle slopes of the valley, which were taken into account when designing farm buildings and plains of fields.
