Notgelds
In the twenty - year period of interwar, General Savings Bank of Slupsk City, issued several series of financial renewal coupons, which replaced so called small change. In the period of the runaway inflation Slupsk merchants had a problem with giving change. Low denominations coins were missing at that time. That paper money, today called ‘notgelds’ were accepted in only some shops in Slupsk.
Two series of renewal coupons show the importance of field marshal Blucher and his hussars among Slupsk inhabitants. Those renewal coupons present his life history. The third set, beside of one renewal coupon with 2 marks nomination, shows urban historic monuments and person of genius Slupsk postmaster, the inventor of a postcard - Heinrich von Stephan.
Each of the series presented below introduces five renewal coupons. The sixth small picture in the photo gallery is on averse. But in a case of paper money a right definition is reverse of the coupon. The reverse is graphically the same, they differ only with nomination. Fronts of renewal coupons (reverses) have different graphics.
