In the gallery, patterns for tablecloths, table runners and tapestries designed by famous embroiderers from Zukowo, Zofia and Jadwiga Ptachowna, were used. The sisters took their motifs of golden and white embroideries not only from coifs, but also from church parament stored in the treasury of the post-monastery church in Zukowo. They also had enough skills to perfectly shade these embroideries by choosing various shades ranging from yellow and orange to beige-brown. In the golden embroidery a yellow, sunny colour is used (no. 404 from Ariadna) and in the white embroidery – pure-white one with brown-framing of motifs (no. 488 from Ariadna). The most beautiful examples of coif patterns for Kashubian embroidery are made on grey linen, but with use of a yellow thread they can be also made on white linen.
All graphic arts contained on this page, were laded from portfolio entitled “Patterns of Kashubian coif embroidery”, edited for The Kashubian-Pomeranian Association Gdansk 1986.
