Slupsk Lands
The Slupsk Area is situated in the Middle Pomerania, 10 kilometres away from the Baltic Sea in the north-west part of the Pomerania Province, in a contamination-free zone. It surrounds the District City of Slupsk, forests take about 28 per cent of the area, the north-east part of the commune is surrounded by the Slovincian National Park and the south one by the Valley of the Slupia River. We can find vast breeding and feeding grounds of protected animal species here.
Palace and manor house parks as well as other objects (mostly from the 15th century) are registered as historic objects. Unique landscape features of the peasant countryside accompanied by many buildings with timbered framework preserved up to this day fully justify naming it as “Kraina w Kratę” (English: “The Checked House Region”). The Checked House Region takes north fragments of the Slawno and Slupsk Districts with an area of 1.600 square kilometres where almost 1.500 buildings with timbered framework and half-timbered construction have remained.
